The Better Way To Select Paint

Selecting paint color sucks. Do you remember the last time you did it? I imagine you’re at Lowes, Home Depot or your local hardware or paint store, looking at a wall of hundreds of shades of colors and little samples, totally overwhelmed. I mean really…. how could there be so many shades of white? it’s just white! Well, there are that many shades of white, but the fact of the matter is you really don’t need the stress of a thousand different shades to choose from.

Enter Clare Paint. This company just makes paint shopping really easy without even leaving your home. With only 55 shades of color already perfectly curated for you, why would you need any more than that?

Clare paint is curated and simplified-I appreciate that.

The woman behind the company is Nicole Gibbons, I recently heard her story on one of my favorite podcasts called Second Life with Hillary Kerr. I love a good woman entrepreneurial story, the company was only launched in 2018 and she is killing it (#smartlady). With a PR background turned Interior Designer and blogger, she saw a need for a disruption in the home decor industry. Already killing it in the interior design field, she was looking for her next challenge. Always interested in start-ups and realizing the home space was archaic, she looked at business models like Warby Parker and Casper and how she could apply that to the home goods space. She had a light bulb moment around paint, how big of an industry it was with only a few companies dominating the space. Paint isn’t a very sexy topic, but she managed to turn it into something very pretty and pleasing to the eye. Her idea was a direct to consumer plan to make paint shopping easy and inspiring.

First of all, selecting a white can be so tedious and the fact that they only have a few well curated selections based on undertones (cool, warm & neutral) is genius.

Another amazing business decision I really appreciate is that the company focuses on sustainability. All the paints are zero VOC, no toxic carbon based solvents or toxic air contaminants, it’s Green Guard Gold Certified and ultra-low odor. Shipping and packing materials are made from 100% recycled paperboard with 90% post-consumer content. Their energy-efficient factory reduces waste at every stage in the manufacturing process, and treats and recycles water for reuse. What more can you want from a company that offers beauty, simplicity and treads light on the environment.
